These 5" Sanding Interface Pads are meant to be used with 5" sanding discs and allow for more consistent results when sanding contours while reducing the likelihood of over-sanding high spots on your project by helping to compensate for the pressure being put on the dual-action sanding machine. 

How do I mount an Interface Pad?

The 5" Sanding Interface Pad should be mounted between the face of the dual action sander and the sanding disc itself, as shown below:
